MT281 supports magnetic stripe cards, smart cards with chip and PIN, and contactless payments such as Apple Pay, MasterCard PayPass, and VISA payWave. In addition, MT281 has an optional biometrics scanner that enables fingerprint authentication. Up to three SAM card slots enable use of multiple types of contactless cards.

MT281 incorporates Bluebird’s proprietary TankSmith™ technology and features a 1.2 m (4 ft.) drop specification and can operate in both extreme cold and heat. In addition, MT281 has a spill resistant keypad and the display is protected against scratches and chips by Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3.

With support for Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth, MT280 is ideal for merchants on the move, and GPS enables location-based tracking of sales. Dual SIM cards provide full network coverage and minimize interruptions. MT281 can also be used with a wired Ethernet connection that is available through the charging cradle.
